Tulane Golfer Linn Gustafsson

Swedish golfer, Linn Gustafsson, has been a member of the Green Wave women’s golf team for two years, after transferring from Texas State in 2008. Gustafsson has an impressive stroke average of 75.08. At Tulane, she has played 71 rounds in 24 tournaments and has three individual titles, 16 top- 20 finishes, 13 top-10 showings and 6 top-5 finishes. Gustafsson stopped by for a short Q&A session with the Tulane Athletics Communication staff to share a little about her experience at Tulane and in New Orleans, her expectations about next season, and some of her off and on the course favorites. Her responses indicate she’s had a wonderful experience at the University and in New Orleans and is looking forward to a competitive golf season.

Tulane golfer Meghan Chapman

Meghan Chapman, a transfer from North Carolina State, and the newest member of the Tulane women’s golf team, will bring an abundance of experience to the 2010-11 Green Wave squad. In her career, she’s played 54 rounds in 18 events and has a stroke average of 76.40. Chapman stopped by for a short Q&A session with the Tulane Athletics Communication staff to share how she has adapted to the team, Tulane, New Orleans and some of her on and off the course favorites. Based on Chapman’s answers, it’s obvious she is acclimating well, loves golf and is excited about her future at Tulane.

Junior Janine Fellows was another player who carded the lowest round of the NCAA Championships today with an even-par round. Fellows finished 12-over for the 72-hole event. She talks about her round today and the overall performance of the team in its second national championship event.

Ashley McKenney registered her lowest round of the 2010 NCAA Championships with an even-par round. The sophomore completed the event with the lowest individual total among the Green Wave with an 8-over 296. McKenney talks about what went right for her today, the difference between today and her previous three rounds and talks about the team’s finish in this year’s title race.

Green Wave head coach John Thomas Horton talks about his team’s 5-over par performance today and its efforts during the final three days after getting off to a disappointing start in the first round. Horton praised his team’s comeback and briefly spoke about the team coming back for the 2010-11 campaign.

Tulane head coach John Thomas Horton talks about the Green Wave’s overall performance today. Because of inclement weather on Wednesday, TU was forced to finish its second round at 7:30 a.m. this morning and then immediately return to action for the third round. The Wave finished 9-over and Coach Horton calls today a bittersweet round for the Wave.

Freshman golfer Maribel Lopez Porras

Freshman Maribel Lopez Porras was TU’s low round leader during the third round of the 2010 NCAA Championships. Porras dropped in four birdies on the day and finished even for the third round. She is the team’s overall leader at 6-over par through 54 holes.

Sophomore golfer Ashley McKenney

Ashley McKenney tied Maribel Lopez Porras for the lowest rounds by the Green Wave players during today’s opening round and discusses what went right, what went wrong and what needs to be corrected. McKenney also mentioned the outlook for tomorrow since the team will be playing in the afternoon winds and what Tulane needs to do to improve.

Samantha Troyanovich didn’t register the type of round she would have liked to today during the opening round of the 2010 NCAA Championships, but the sophomore ended the day on a high note with a 102-foot for eagle on the 18^th hole to close out the round, and she describes the putt that went down as her highlight of the day.
