Boudreaux’s b-day party

Our Green Wave faithfuls may know all about our student-athletes and how they stay occupied in the summer, conditioning and what not, but they aren’t the only ones keepin’ busy! Riptide had a big weekend too…He was invited to Boudreaux’s birthday party at the Zephyr’s game on Sunday!

His favorite b-day party game was musical chairs (see below) during the second inning.

Also in attendance at the birthday bash were Hugo the Hornet of NBA fame, Gumbo, the Saints fan fave along with fellow “collegians” like Roomie, the Lion from Southeastern Louisiana and the Loyola Wolfpack was in the house, in addition to other mascot party-goers. Riptide sure knows how to have a good time during his “off” season!!

Summer Ball

Jeremy Schaffer, Rob Segedin and Nick Pepitone are switching up their summer routines this season. While lots of Green Wave ball players play summer ball, the guys can usually be found playing in the Cape, Vienna and other premier summer leagues. But this year, the trio is trading in their sluggerbird jerseys for the stars and stripes, as they represent USA Baseball.

The guys opened up against Canada last night and I’m pleased to report that the USA won, 12-4. Seggie hit a triple and Pep threw 2 innings and struck out a pair. Technically Seggie and Schaf are alternates on the team but due to some injuries, they both got called into action last night. Not sure what the extent of the injuries is, but it’s nice to see a couple of Tulane bats in the lineup!

Going pro

It’s not surprising that some of our baseball players got drafted into the professional ranks last week…Seth Henry is a recent signee, and ABC-26 came out yesterday to do a quick interview with him before he hopped a plane this morning, on his way to join the Tampa Bay Rays organization. Check out Adam Norris’ story:
